SAVINGS & LOAN PROGRAMS

IDA Savings Program

Individual Development Accounts (IDA) are savings accounts that can be used only for purchasing a first home, starting a small business or for educational or job training expenses.  Accounts are held at local financial institutions but you need only visit the LHDME office to establish your account and participate in the program.  Deposits into an IDA account are matched -- up to 4 times in the program we're currently offering -- using both private and public sources.  All participants receive economic literacy training that inlcudes setting up a budgeting and savings schedule along with other basic money management tools.

The steps included in the IDA program are:

• Opening Accounts
• Economic Literacy and Education
• Withdrawal, Purchasing Assets and Beyond

Loan Programs

The LHDME loan fund offers the following signature loans.  The loans will range in size -- partially dependent on the income, debt and credit history of the applicant -- have a fixed interest rate, a fixed monthly payment and a term/repayment period determined by the program and amount borrowed.
